Testimonials & Reviews

I stopped there on my way to Boston by bike. My bedroom was great, the living room is perfect and the breakfast was delightful. Location is good, as it is walking distance from the center of the city. And the host is very friendly. Perfect spot if you bike around the region!

My husband, daughter, and I stayed there one night before we dropped our daughter off at camp & then my husband and I stayed there another 2 nights. It is a lovely bed and breakfast in a beautiful historic home. Sallie is lovely, interesting, and personable. She was always willing to help with suggestions for interesting and beautiful places to go and told us about the history of the property and Rutland. She prepared us fabulous breakfasts and made sure to accommodate our daughter’s lactose intolerance the night she was with us. Every day she left cookies, tea, and coffee in the library.

We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone. It was very relaxing and helped to make our trip pleasant and memorable.

My husband and I stayed at the Antiques Mansion two days ago, and it was one of the most spacious and comfortable Bed and Breakfasts we’ve spent the night in yet! We are wedding photographers, and Sallie was kind enough to let us have a pretty late check-in after a wedding in Manchester. Breakfast was homemade and Sallie was a wonderful host. There’s even a room with a pool table! Can’t recommend this place enough… can’t wait to book again when we have another wedding near Rutland. 🙂
Room Tip: All rooms looked wonderful. The ceilings are something like 12 feet high, and there’s tons of s…

Recently spent the night on business. Arrived very late. Owner, Sallie, was waiting at the door at 1AM when I arrived from NYC. She offered me something to eat or drink after my long trip. So Good.

I was very tired and had a great nights sleep in the quiet country. Early riser at 645 AM greeted by hot coffee and fruit. Offered panckes, french toast or eggs for breakfast. Most attentive to all my needs and off to work at 8AM.

Thank you Antique Mansion – i will be back.

We were in Rutland to visit friends May 20-21. When we arrived Sallie Gill greeted us warmly and offered us one of two suites. Both were very large with queen beds. We chose a suite with a separate sitting room and dressing area. It was really lovely and very nice New England furniture. There was an excellent new big screen tv with Direct TV. While we unpacked Sally brought us a plate of cookies and lemonade.

The weather was unusually warm but Sally told us the rooms would stay cool and she was right! It got to 85 on our second day but the room and the whole house stayed wonderfully cool. The other parts of the house are very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast each morning was excellent. We told Sally when we would like to eat and she then made our breakfast to order and it was fresh and hot and tasty.

The property is more than four acres that you can walk around and it is beautifully maintained. When we visit Rutland again we would absolutely stay at the Antique Mansion again.

We spent three nights over the fourth while visiting family south of Rutland. We had two rooms with a bathroom in between which was perfect for us and our two children. The owners were very kind and accommodating to our schedule. The house is lovely and the owners seemed to genuinely enjoy sharing it with us. They even seemed to enjoy answering our 4 year old daughter’s endless questions. Breakfast was perfect and met all our needs. We are looking forward to staying again.

“I don’t have any hesitation to stay at the Antique Mansion B&B when in the Rutland area. We picked this off of Trip Advisor and had a wonderful long weekend celebrating my birthday. The house is beautifully restored with all of the flavor of an old Vermont mansion. The first thing that strikes you is the long elegant staircase leading to the charming rooms. We loved the period decor of the rooms and the whole house for that matter.

Sallie and Larry are extremely hospitable and make you feel immediately at home and even like an old friend.

No complaints just great memories. ”

“We enjoyed our stay. It was quiet, a large older house could be cold in the winter but this was comfortable. We stayed in a “suite” with a bedroom and sitting room, a distinct advantage over a hotel if one person wants to read and another watchTV or sleep. The shower was hot, another thing that might be hard to find in a big old house. The innkeepers were friendly and helpful. They were very willing to cater to a special diet. Clean, well appointed, spacious and a good value.”

“We spent a weekend in this beautiful, historic house. It was very comfortable, perfectly restored, and immaculately kept. Possibly the best breakfast I’ve ever had at a B&B. Very convenient to downtown Rutland, but far enough for peace and quiet. Our hosts couldn’t have been more gracious and hospitable. Thank you!”
